handmade reusable alternatives to everyday disposables

.........................

I am actually a scientist by trade. I have a PhD in Biochemistry and moved to New York from Toronto in 2004 to do my postdoctoral research in structural biology. While
mixing and making things in test tubes can be alright, I much prefer to use a sewing machine, or knitting needles, or pen and paper. (Don't tell my boss.) There is something more relaxing, instantly rewarding and aesthetically pleasing about handcrafts than to the hocus pocus of x-ray crystallography.

I am a self-taught knitter and quilter. Until just recently (early 2009) all my creations have only been gifts: birthdays, weddings, showers. It wasn't until I started making roll up tote bags (named the Bomo-Bag by my coworkers) that I decided to sell them. The Bomo-Bag is the greatest thing that I've ever made myself and it makes me happy whenever I use it. I want everyone to have one!

I am slowly expanding my product line to include other reusable alternatives to everyday disposables and welcome any suggestions that you might have.
