LICENSE PLATE frame
Vintage license plates are assembled - mosaic style - to form a colorful, graphic and quintessentially American photo frame.
The plates are found in garages and barns and all date to 1980 or earlier. I cut and shape the heavy pieces of metal and after sanding and final adjustments, cement them to a painted wood square. There is no resin coating here. You will be able to feel all of the bumps and ridges of the metal. Some rust spots and age marks are expected with vintage plates and add to the "well worn" charm. All metal is hand waxed as a final step.
I've included a dowel stick for standing up and attached a hanger for wall hanging. The frame stands 8" tall and nearly 8" wide and is 1/2" deep not including the stand.
The included photo is (1950's) vintage and can be displayed as art, or your own 3.75" x 3.75" photo can be inserted.
*Because of the reflective nature of some of the plates. colors may appear slightly differently in the photos. On this frame, the green and blue letters and numbers are, in reality, deeper and more saturated in color than appears in these photos.
